Every year, the MDA honors individuals and teams whose efforts have helped make missile defense a reality. Each year, there is one recipient of the Ronald Reagan Missile Defense Award, and multiple recipients of the Technology Pioneer Award.
Since 2003, the Ronald Reagan Missile Defense Award has been an annual honor awarded to individuals or organizations to recognize outstanding support, innovation, and engineering or scientific achievement associated with technologies designed to defend against ballistic missile attack.
2009 Recipient: General Larry D. Welch
Established in 2006, the Technology Pioneer Award honors individuals or small teams who have made significant contributions to the advancement of technology that has, in turn, enabled the development and deployment of the current and future elements of the U.S. Ballistic Missile Defense System.
