June 24, 2021
The Missile Defense Agency (MDA), as the lead agency, with the Department of the Air Force as a cooperating agency, announces the availability of the Record of Decision for the Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR) Operations at Clear Air Force Station, Alaska. The Record of Decision, available at https://www.mda.mil/system/lrdr, announces and documents the decision to implement changes in operational concept for the LRDR as well as the alternatives and relevant factors considered in the decision.
This decision includes modification of the LRDR operational requirements and procedures to reflect continuous operations in response to emerging threats. This action will enable MDA to meet its congressional mandate to fully support the primary mission of the layered Missile Defense System to provide continuous and precise tracking and discrimination of long‐range missile threats launched against the United States.
